Frank Williams Obituary

Frank Williams Sr. was born on October 6, 1934, to the late Eddie Williams Sr. and Rosa Dumas Williams in Garyville, Louisiana, in St. John the Baptist Parish where he was raised. Frank accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized June 1948 at the True Light Baptist Church in Garyville, LA. Frank graduated from Fifth Ward High School. He would later enlist in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country from 1956-1961. On September 26, 1959, he married the late Gwendolyn B. Williams. From this blessed union, they had two loving heartbeats, Lawanda Jenise and Frank Jr. In the mid-1960s, Frank and Gwendolyn with Lawanda in tow would become active members of Greater Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, pastored then by the late Pastor Lloyd A. Gomez. Frank would later be called to the Deacon Board, where he would serve the office of Church Treasurer until his health failed. Frank and Gwendolyn would share forty-one years of marriage, before death would part them and God would call her home February 2001. To know Frank Williams was to love, admire and adore him. He loved God, and he knew God loved and cared for him. One of his favorite songs he always longed to hear was "Order My Steps." He was soft spoken but always the consummate communicator. In 2005 love would find him once again, he would meet and later marry Brenda Simmons. He would also inherit two more wonderful children Darah and O'Neal. When his health began to fail, he would now be in the need of care, and Brenda met each and every challenge his illness would bring until death parted them August 7th, 2018. Frank was also preceded in death by Eddie and Charles Williams (brothers), Deloris Johnson and Evelyn Harris (sisters). He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife Brenda Williams; children, Lawanda Williams, Richardson, TX, Frank Williams Jr. (Shandreka), New Orleans, LA, Darah Jones (Michael) Harvey, LA, O'Neal Simmons Jr., Virginia Colony Springs, CO, and a special Daughter, Andrea Smith (Anthony) Wylie, TX. Grandchildren: Joy, Ferrell, Antoinya, Tyron, Brandon, Makelsii, Joshua, and Jocelyn; great-grandchild, Sydni Symonne; his loving brother Raymond Williams (Odessa), New Orleans, LA; sister-in Law, Pearl Ella Williams, Garyville, LA; a devoted God-daughter, Cynthia Harris Cook; and a host of relatives and friends. Family and friends of the River Parishes and Greater Bright Morning Star B.C. are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday August 18, 2018, at 10:00am from the Greater Bright Morning Star B.C., 2418 Louisiana Ave., New Orleans, La. Pastor Woodrow Hayden officiating. Entombment Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 Hwy. 90 West, Avondale, La. Viewing at the church 8:30-9:30am. Final care entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Hwy., Gramercy, La. "When someone you love becomes a memory that memory becomes a TREASURE."
