Carl Wandrei Sr. Obituary
He was born on March 19, 1935.
Carl was a former metallurgical engineer for Purdue University, past president of the Microscopical Society of Illinois, past president of the Elizabethtown Garden Club and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rhinehart Carl Wandrei; his mother, Lillian McWhorter Paulus; his stepfather, Fred Paulus; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Carrie Herrin; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Esders.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bonnie D. Herrin Wandrei, who always was holding his hand; a daughter, Deborah Horton (Jim); a son, Carl L. Wandrei Jr. (Aida); a sister, Jeanie Smitherman; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Sabrina, Nathan, Phillip, Stephen and Timothy; five great-grandchildren, Dillion, Collin, Gabe, Nova, and Lilianna; three nieces, Diane, Gloria and Wendy; and many dear friends.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
