Daniel Watterson Sr. Obituary
Born in Newport, Rhode Island, he met his wife in Kings Mills, Ohio while stationed in the U.S. Army. They married in 1966 before moving to Elizabethtown in 1971 where they raised their two sons. Daniel worked at Fort Knox where he was a civil servant for more than 30 years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn O'Shea; and a brother, Stephen Watterson.
He was the loving husband of Nancy Watterson of Elizabethtown; father to Daniel J. Watterson Jr. and his wife, Lisa Watterson, of Bowling Green, and Patrick Watterson of High Point, North Carolina; He was the grandfather of Madison Kristof, April Vuncannon, Sophia Watterson and Daniel A. Watterson. He was a brother to the Rev. John E. Watterson of Somerset, Massachusetts; William Watterson and wife, Helene of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; James P. Watterson and wife, Barbara of Westport, Massachusetts; Kathleen E. Watterson of Newport; and a brother-in-law to Roger O'Shea of Lakeville, Massachusetts.
Daniel forever will be remembered for his infectious smile, sense of humor and love of his family. He was extremely proud of his sons and his great joy in life was to spend time with his grandchildren alongside the love of his life, Nancy.
Cremation was chosen by the family. A private family memorial Mass will be scheduled in the near future.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice or the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
