James Strader Obituary

James Lee "Jimmy" Strader, 92, of White Mills, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at home with his loving family.

He was born on March 14, 1932, in Hardin County, to the late Floyd and Dorothy Booker Strader.

Jimmy was a lifelong farmer and retired from Dow Corning. A proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, he served during the Korean War at a station in Okinawa. He enjoyed spending time with all his grandkids and great-grandkids who deeply loved him back. He was also known for his love of UK sports and being a devoted member at White Mills Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Betty Lasley Strader; three siblings, Harold Strader, Gladys Lucas an and Ruel Strader; a great-granddaughter, Skyler Alexis Hathaway; and great-great-granddaughter, Everleigh Belle Wilcox.

Survivors include his two children, James T. "Jimmy" Strader (Beverly) and Karen Morgan; four grandchildren, Jennifer Wilcox (Casey), Jason Strader (Sarah), Summer Mayfield (Josh) and Landon Morgan; 10 great-grandchildren, Kaitlynne Seay (Ricky), Chandler Wilcox, Kyle Wilcox (Sophie), Avery Strader, Oakley Strader, Lakelyn Strader, Larkin Morgan, Dustin Hathaway, Hadleigh Skaggs and Tymber Skaggs; three great-great-grandchildren, Zavier Seay, Emery Seay and Brynleigh Wilcox; four siblings, Berthie Puckett (Jack), Milton Strader (Donna), Truman Strader (Mary Lou) and Billy Strader (Terri); a brother-in-law, Pee Wee Lucas; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bailey (Shelby) and Helen Daughtery; and he was blessed with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street in Elizabethtown, with Brother Tim Dennis officiating. Burial with military honors follows in White Mills Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continues from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy's memory to White Mills Christian Church building fund, checks may be mailed to 231 Cave Rd, White Mills, KY 42788, or to Hosparus Health at hosparushealth.org/donate/.
