Martha “Marty” Sams Pitvorec

Martha "Marty" Sams Pitvorec, 82, of Elizabeth­town, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2002, at her residence.

Marty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a former administrative assistant at Caspian Enterprises and a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles, planting flowers, playing golf and traveling. Most of all, she loved visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Lee Sams; her brother, George Long; her sister and brother-in-law, Nelle and Robert Dowell; her son, William Douglas Sams; and her stepson, Mike Pitvorec.

Marty is survived by her husband, Rudy Pitvorec; her daughter, Cheryl Daniels (Donnie); her daughter-in-law, Paige Sams; her stepdaughters, Laura Pitvorec (Don Hissam), Vicky Lawson, Robin Pitvorec, Jayne Rowlett (Scott) and Mary Salewske (Randy); her stepson, David Pitvorec; her grandchildren, Jennifer Stewart (Jason), Nick Daniels, Jordan Sams (Will Bush), Cory Sams, Elena Sams, Hayley Sams, Crystal LeMasters (Paul Sasser), Doug Pitvorec, Savannah Pitvorec, Mark Dowell (Jenn Crump), Joshua Pitvorec, Jeremy Pitvorec, Jeff Pitvorec (Morgan), Melissa Tolle (Matt), Christopher Rowlett (Racheal), Tommy Kolar (Jocelynn), Robert Kolar, Matthew Brown (Ashley), Dylan Brown and Michael Kerns; 25 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Brand of Illinois; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Hardin Memorial Park cemetery in Elizabethtown with Father Dan Lincoln officiating.
