Ronald Bevars Obituary
Ron was a well-known basketball coach at North Hardin High School with a career that spanned 38 years as head coach leading the Trojans to 805 wins, 17 17th District Tournaments titles and 12 5th Region Tournaments titles. In 2015, he was inducted in the KHSAA Hall of Fame and in 2014 he was awarded the National Basketball High School Coach of the Year by the National Coaches High School Association. His impact on players and students was far reaching with his "nuggets of wisdom" and the genuine concern he conveyed. Ron championed establishment of the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame in Elizabethtown and after retirement volunteered many hours. Committing his life to Christ, he joined Southeast Christian Church where he was baptized.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyde and Rhudell Bevars; two brothers, Mike Bevars and Harold Jones; and a sister, Linda Smith.
Ron is survived by his wife, Susan Krausman Bevars; his son, Mark Bevars (Beth); his daughter, Kathy Glaser (William); a stepdaughter, Katherine Godsey (Ben); two brothers, Terry Bevars and Jerry Bevars; two sisters, Sandy Mitchell and Sharon Jones; six grandchildren, Tyler Bevars (Catherine), Emily (Bevars) Shaffer (Steven), Maggie Bevars, Liam Glaser, Mason Glaser and Tilly Glaser; and one great-granddaughter, Carmela Bevars.
Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Southeast Christian Church-Elizabethtown Campus, 600 N. Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown.
The funeral for Mr. Bevars is at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at the church. Burial follows at North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus or Southeast Christian Church.
