Sheryl Luken Obituary
Born Aug. 26,1941, in Burlington, Iowa, Sheryl grew up in both Iowa and Miami. She attended Coral Gables High School in Miami, graduated from Campbellsville College and received her master's degree from Western Kentucky University. She spent her career dedicated to education and making a difference in the lives of others through her compassionate and tireless efforts.
Sheryl was known for her vibrant personality, endless kindness and infectious enthusiasm. Whether through her professional endeavors, volunteer work through her beloved church or as a loving family member, she had a remarkable ability to uplift and connect with everyone around her. She loved her "Sunday School Girls." Her home always was a place of warmth and welcome and her heart was ever open for those in need.
Survivors include her two children, Gerrek Luken (Lisa) and Greg Luken (Kelley); her five grandchildren, Trisha, Zander, Tegan, Ford and Baily; and her husband of 63 years, Leo Luken, all who will remember her fondly.
A memorial service to celebrate Sheryl's life is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5, in the upper chapel at Severn's Valley, 1100 Ring Road in Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sheryl's memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Severns Valley Baptist Church.
Sheryl's legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of being part of her life.
