Stephen Pitz Obituary

Stephen Aaron Pitz, 68, of Elizabethtown, passed away Monday, July 23, 2024, at his residence.

He was a 1973 graduate of Bell County High School, where he was salutatorian of his class. Stephen also finished in the top 10 of his 1978 Eastern Kentucky University graduating class, where he earned his master's degree. He worked with the Dallas Police Department from 1978 to 2000 and taught criminal justice at Marshall University and Madisonville Community College until he retired in 2005.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Leonard A. Pitz.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Browning; a brother, Matthew L. Pitz; a sister, Pamela Pitz Lucas; five nieces and nephews, Lindsay (Dennis) Pitz-Dunn, Matt (Bethany) Pitz, Megan Lucas, Christopher L. (Jennie) Pitz and Paige R. Lucas; two great-nieces, Lindsay F. Pitz and Charlotte M. Pitz; his maternal grandparents, Arthur and Emma Peters; and his paternal grandparents, Ignatius and Hedwig Pitz.

A memorial service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
