Timothy Maddix Obituary
He was born Aug. 8, 1959, in Rowan County, the son of Jimmie Maddix of Olive Hill and the late Loretta Sloan Maddix.
Tim was a 1977 graduate of West Carter High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army, where he retired in 1998, with 21 years of service, as a sergeant first class with the rank of E-7 and was a member of American Legion Post No. 138 of Olive Hill. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, Florida vacations, cutting grass, staying home enjoying his wife's cooking and relaxing in his recliner.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 20 years, Margaret Ann Holloran Maddix; a brother-in-law, Doug Dyer; and a sister-in-law, Chris Burks.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sharon Messer Maddix; a son, Allen (Andrea) Singleton of Hardin County; two grandchildren, Lindsey Renee Christiana Singleton and Ally Nicole Singleton; a brother, Vernon (Becky) Maddix of Olive Hill; two sisters, Debbie Maddix and Cathy Dyer, both of Olive Hill; a brother-in-law, Bob Swiney; three sisters-in-law, Lisa Uhl, Cindy Black and Pam Messer; a nephew, Matthew Maddix; a niece, Amanda Pennington; along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
The funeral is at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West U.S. Hwy 60 in Olive Hill, with Brother David Gee officiating. Burial follows in the Maddix Family Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
