Mary Ann McKinney Obituary

Mary Ann Ware McKinney passed away September 13, 2025.
Mary Ann was born October 24, 1938, in Copperhill, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel M. Ware and Anna Mae Bradford Ware; and her sister, Doris Jean Ware Perry.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lea and Michael Richardson of Decatur, Alabama. She was the proud grandmother of Seth Richardson and wife Bailee, and Cade Richardson. She is also survived by one sister, Nell Rose Ware of Copperhill, Tennessee; nine nieces, Ann Russell Pate, Dana Perry, Jan Perry Rodgers, Elizabeth Pate Holland, Anna Rose Holland, Beth McKinney Herring, Sally McKinney Wiygul, Pam McKinney Bush, and Marvene McKinney Wallace; six nephews, Jordan Pate, Thomas Rodgers, Scott McKinney, David McKinney, Chuck McKinney, and Alton McKinney. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Eddie Perry, and many more special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Copperhill High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College, graduating with a degree in Education. She was a beloved teacher of English and history with most of her years of teaching spent in the Colbert County Schools at Leighton Middle School, then many happy years ultimately retiring from Colbert Heights High School in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
An accomplished pianist and organist, she was the pianist at First Baptist Church Tuscumbia for over 25 years.
Mary Ann or "Nonny" as she was known, was a devoted grandmother to Seth and Cade for 27 years. She was an integral part of their life, always at their ball games, proms, church events, parties, and anywhere she was needed.
A Memorial Service was held September 26, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Alabama, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Barrett Long officiating.
The family received friends at 1 p.m .prior to the service at the church.
