Charles B. Gaushell

Funeral services for Charles B. Gaushell, 76, of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Temple Baptist Church, Ruston, Louisiana, with Dr. Reggie Bridges and Reverend Dale Oden officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.

Mr. Gaushell passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston.

Mr. Gaushell began his career as a police officer in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and continued his career at Monterey Park, Los Angeles, California. He retired from the Monroe Police Department as the Police Chief. Charles was also an Army veteran. He was the co-founder of Russ Town Community Band.

Mr. Gaushell was preceded in death by his son, J. Harper Gaushell; brother, Dr. Harper Gaushell; parents, Kitty B. and Charles S. Gaushell.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Anne Taylor Gaushell; children, Lisa Gaushell Grafton and husband, Dee; Charles Taylor Gaushell and wife, Mary Katherine; five grandchildren, Trey Grafton, Laura Grafton, Taylor Gaushell, Katie Gaushell and Mary Hannah Gaushell; and sister, Susan Gaushell Jones.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2015.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. George Smith, Dr. Gregory Tubre, Dr. David Osafo, and the nursing staff at North Louisiana Medical Center ICU.

Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church Music Ministry or the American Cancer Society.

Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country-first when you served in the U.S. Army and later as a Law Enforcement Officer. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
