I first met Doc Danna while at WLUW in 1989, and of course while he was teaching classes. I always remember him telling me to quit working nights. It never sank in (I still do). I will also fondly remember many hours spent at Flapjaws with him and all the gang from the station. Truly a great man. He will be missed. Thank you for all the fun times and great memories.

I'm another one of those many students from the School of Communications at Loyola who never forgot Doc, his love for teaching and his love for radio. Setting up WLUW during the summer of 1977 was a great honor for me. Sitting at the control board and flipping the switch to feed the signal from the studio at Lewis Towers to the transmitter at Mertz Hall was quite a thrill. Meanwhile Doc and Dr. Bob Pierson were driving around in a car monitoring the signal, quite a memory. RIP Doc, and thanks for everything.

I offer my condolences to the family and friends for your loss. May our father console you with his words of comfort(psams73:26). And the many experiences that you've made with him. A neighbor

I knew Sammy from being a close friend of his sister, Mary Louise. Spent many hours in the Joe Danna home during college. Sammy was loved by all. Rejoice in your homecoming with our Lord

He was our teacher, a mentor and a close friend. When he was in Chicago, a group of us made it a tradition to get together with him for his birthday and for the holidays. Many great memories. We were blessed having him in our lives. Thank you, Doc - you will be missed.
