Ray Schmelter was my practice teaching mentor in 1966 at the campus school. When the 'new math' was being introduced. He was one of the best teachers I've ever seen. Very demanding.

I was a Campus School kid from kindergarten thru 9th grade. I had the pleasure of becoming his daughter Mara best friend and grew up enjoying his family. He will always be a legend in my eyes, a excellent dad, husband and principal.
RiP Dr. Schmelter, your with the love of your life Peggy and Jesus. You ran the good race and your children will always admire you, along with anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with you and your family in your journey of life. You will be missed and your life lessons, wisdom, and love will live on.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Johnson

During the past two years that Ed has been at PVHC, we got to know and admire your Dad. He loved sharing stories of his teaching experiences and he was especially proud of his time in the Navy. What a truly remarkable man who will be missed by so many people! Our deepest sympathy to his entire family.
