Robert Spanbauer Obituary

Spanbauer, Robert M. "Bob"

Robert M. "Bob" Spanbauer, 51, of Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Monday, October 28, 2013. He was born in Oshkosh, January 16, 1962, the son of George and Jeanette Steinert Spanbauer. He married Wendy Boese on June 20, 1987.

Bob was employed for 31 years for the Oshkosh Area School District, most recently as the Supervising Custodian at Oshkosh West High School. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wendy, two sons, Brad Spanbauer (Dan Riegelman) and Kyle Spanbauer of Oshkosh. One brother, Tom (Jessica) Spanbauer of Oshkosh. Four sisters, Jean (Don) Fietzer of Townsend, Judy (Bill) Nolte, Janet (Dick) Strand and Susan (Steven) Bauer, all of Oshkosh. He is further survived by his mother-in-law Jackie Boese of Butte des Morts, brother-in-law, Robert (Linda) Boese Jr. of MI, sister-in-law, Jackie Spanbauer of Oshkosh; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Bob was extremely proud of both his sons. He was proud of his job at Oshkosh West, always going above and beyond what was expected of him. He truly enjoyed helping anyone and everyone he could with his handyman talents. This was his true passion. He also enjoyed spending time out in the woods, hunting and spending time up north with "the guys" at the cabin. He loved having his backyard fires as he puttered around, feeding the birds and enjoying a beer or two. And for those of you who knew Bob, well you probably have a "Bobism" or two in your memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, his nephew Joseph (Joey) and his father-in-law, Robert Boese Sr.

A time of sharing and support will take place Sunday, November 3, 2013 in the Fiss and Bills Poklasny Funeral home from 12:30 to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

To all of the Spanbauer Family. We are so sorry for your loss. We have been friends with his sister Susie since school, so we knew Bob "way back when". He was a nice guy then and a wonderful man now. Reading all of these messages really is a great tribute to him. Our hearts are breaking for you. Please know that you will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Love to you all.

I am deeoly sorry for your loss. Mr. Spanbauer was an amazing guy and that doesn't even really begin to describe him. My fondest memories are of chatting with him at the end of what I called "the rainbow road" (which was this super sparkly path leading down to where the custodial staff would hang out or break) and he knew my mum and so usually we'd talk about my family and school. And if my day was going rough, it was a sure thing that Mr. Spanbauer could put a smile on my face. Or if I needed help with something or a box or to borrow something or if it'd lost something, I could always find that helping hand and friend in him.

He will be greatly missed. Have fun in heaven Mr. Spanbauer.

Dear Wendy and Boys,

I was given on of Gods gifts when I meet Bob as the new kid in the fall of 78 at Oshkosh West. All those Friday night Fish fry's at Wendts may have been a long time ago but yet it feels like yesterday. The memories of the great times we had will be with me forever. Although unfortunately we would not hook up as often as the years passed, we could always pick right back up and have a great time. May Gods love be with you.

I can't express enough how much my heart breaks for all of you. I had the pleasure to work with Bob for 15 years. He was a true friend and went out of his way to help anyone at anytime. I will miss him, his sense of humor and smile so much. My prayers are with all of you as you go through this difficult and trying time. Rest in peace Bob!

October 30, 2013

Our Weiske hearts are shattered. We loved Bob more than life itself. Our son Ben would shout "Bob Bob Bob's here" as he would see Bob's truck come into our driveway. Our girls would light UP when they saw him walk into the kitchen. He always had a kind word of love and encouragement for Ms. Ella. Pike loved drinking beers, eating cheese and sausage sticks and enjoying Bob's company anytime he could.

We are FOREVER indebted to Bob and Wendy for all they have done for our family. Bob's love and friendship will live on in our hearts forever.

Gone TOO soon but NEVER forgotten.

All our love and friendship and constant prayers to you Wendy, Brad and Kyle.

May God's love and light guide you daily.

All our love. The Weiske Family

I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was a joy to work with and I liked his sense of humor very much.
I recall the birds that lived in the attic over the theater and how we laugh at the various complaints we both heard about it. He wait until the little birds could fly before finding a way to plug the hole.
