Angus McLay Obituary

McLAY, ANGUS WALLACE; age 86; passed away comfortably on February 10, 2012. He died suddenly in his sleep at his residence at Kendal at Oberlin in Oberlin, Ohio. Angus was born in Detroit Michigan on August 1, 1924 to Annabelle Josephine Wallace and Angus Daniel McLay of Birmingham, Michigan. He attended the Leelanau High School and was in the US Navy Seabees during W.W.II. After the war he obtained his BS from Michigan State University. He worked in real estate development in Oakland County, for St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac and ran his own long distance trucking business. He lived in Birmingham and Troy, MI until 2002 when he moved to Oberlin, Ohio. He was a very gentle man and is greatly missed by his sister, Annabelle Wallace McLay of Marysville, MI; nieces and nephew, Celia "Cici" McLay and Elizabeth "Beckie" McLay, both of Sinks Grove, WV, Ruth McLay Zanoni of Columbia, MD, Catherine Sutton McLay and Daniel Wallace McLay, both of Spokane, WA. Angus was preceded in death by his older brother, Wallace Daniel McLay of Pontiac, Michigan. Memorial donations may be made to his favorite charity the American Indian College Fund, 8333 Greenwood Blvd., Denver, CO 80221. Memorial Service this Saturday, March 31, 2 p.m. at Kendal at Oberlin, 600 Kendal Dr., Oberlin, OH. Family contact: (207) 944-4083, Cici McLay, 2970 Seneca Trail North, Sinks Grove, WV 24976.
