Colin Crumm Obituary

Crumm, Colin H.; died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, after a five-month struggle with cancer. He was born in Pontiac August 6, 1956 and grew up in West Bloomfield, graduating from high school in 1974. He attended classes at Oakland Community College and Michigan State University. In his 20s and 30s, he worked as a journalist for Detroit area newspapers in Lake Orion, Davison, Union Lake and Downriver. He migrated to Ohio for several years before settling in Lexington for most of the past decade. He most recently worked as a substance abuse counselor for The Hope Center. In recent years, he enjoyed a rekindled passion for golf, playing frequently at courses in and around Lexington. He was cremated and his ashes placed near the sixth hole, one of his favorites, at Shady Brook Golf Course outside Lexington. He is survived by his brother Charles, from Waterford, nephews Daniel Crumm from Waterford and Joseph Crumm from Royal Oak, close friends Mike Malott and Dana Haynes Malott from Hartland, many cousins and friends, and his brothers at The Hope Center. Memorials may be made to The Hope Center, P.O. Box 6, Lexington, Kentucky, 40588, or to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, 40504.
