Jim graduated from Walled Lake Central High School and earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Central Michigan University. He lived a full life. Full of love. Full of compassion. Full of charity. Full of gratitude. He will be missed deeply but remembered always. Mr. Lilley was my 8th grade algebra teacher at Jefferson Jr. High. The previous year my teacher nearly killed my love of math but Mr. Lilley restored it and then some. He was a very nice, compassionate, and fun teacher. Even his students that didn't particularly like math learned to like it. I was shocked and heartbroken to hear of his passing. Dee, may the love you shared carry you through the days ahead. To all his family, friends, and former students my prayers and thoughts are with you. You will be forever missed Mr. Lilley.

What I remember MOST about Jim is his love for EACH student who entered into his life. His compassion for and understanding of young people is the reason he "made a difference" in the lives of all of them. I had SO many lengthy conversations with Jim when he was at PCHS. I KNEW how much his health students and runners cared about him.....and he knew that too. I was delighted when he and Dee went to sw China with me to help train Chinese English teachers on summer holiday. In addition, we traveled together to Australia and New Zealand. I knew this very special man WELL and had the ultimate admiration for him as a teacher, a coach, an administrator, an athlete and, most importantly, as a human being who cared about and gave so much of himself to others......The selfless man will be missed, but not forgotten by the thousands he touched. Until we meet again, Jim................
