I had Paul Newman for physics at Pontiac Northern during his first year of teaching, fresh out of Michigan State. I remember that he (a high school valedictorian, as I recall) was very surprised at the low level at which the students in Pontiac operated, but a grateful recipient of his precocious excellence as a teacher. I hope he was not discouraged by the experience, and continued to encourage his students as much as he encouraged me, an indifferent student of his subject.

I taught with Paul "way back when" at PNHS, when he was teaching Physics. I really liked him and wish the family my sincere sympathies on your lose.

Paul was that wonderful big brother that you hear about. He taught me how to climb a tree, ride a bike, play baseball and even made me do a math problem before I was allowed to shoot for a basket. He was kind, honest, loving, and generous. I will miss him more than words can express.

Paul was a huge part of our family. His love and devotion to my mother and family was second to none. He will be dearly missed, and will remain in our hearts forever.
