Olympia , Washington - Aurelia M. (Hoeschen) Kennish was born on April 15, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was one of five children born to Martha & Joseph Hoeschen. Aurelia passed away peacefully at The Sequoia in Olympia, Washington on Wednesday February 1, 2023, at the age of 98 and 292 days old!
Aurelia and her family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1934. Aurelia graduated from Woodland High School in 1942. She then attended St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Vancouver, WA., graduating in 1945. She went on to work at the old St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, WA. She soon met the love of her life, Edward P. Kennish. They married on July 22, 1946. Then came the children, all 13 of them!
Aurelia always had a large garden, and she did a lot of canning, sewing, needlepoint and embroidery. Over the years her children and grandchildren were gifted her special, made with love, embroidered pillowcases.
Aurelia was active at Sacred Heart Church in Lacey, WA., and she also volunteered with many other community groups.
Aurelia is survived by ten of her children. Frances (Patrick) MacKenzie, Aurelia Mary (Mark) Osborne, Joseph (Cheryl) Kennish, William (Molly) Kennish, David (Patricia) Kennish, Peter Kennish, Helen Stubbings, James (Susan) Kennish, Richard (Donna) Kennish, Anthony (Janice) Kennish. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her four brothers, three children, her husband Edward, and two grandchildren.
Services are at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey, WA., on Thursday February 23, 2023. The Rosary is at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Services provided by Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. We love you, Mom!
