Brett Thompson Obituary

Brett E. Thompson December 24, 1949 - December 9, 2014 Retired Trooper Brett E. Thompson was taken too soon from us. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; devoted daughter, Beckie; and precious twin granddaughters, Brettine and Breanne. He is also survived by brothers, Marvin (Barb), Craig (Kris), Bob (Jo), Mark (Ronnie), Chris; sister, Robin; and multiple nieces and nephews. Brett always had a vision for his life. He knew the WSP was for him, and stand tall he did from 1971-2000. Never one for idle time, he continued his passion with the law enforcement community at 911 Driving School in Kent. The brotherhood of law enforcement was dear to Brett, he solidified his bond meeting monthly with other retirees. An avid hunter, he took yearly trips to Montana with his brothers and lifelong friends. Always having a dream of owning a Willy's Jeep, Brett purchased and restored a 1951 Willy's after retiring from WSP. Loving having accomplished that childhood dream, Brett purchased a 1948 Willy's Jeep he was in the process of restoring with his granddaughters, Brettine and Breanne, before his untimely death. "Two granddaughters, two jeeps", he always said. One cannot really sum up a man's life adequately in words. A husband, a father, a grandpa, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, a WSP trooper. One man that touched so many so profoundly, so deeply, always with respect even in those last moments. A tragedy has occurred that many of us can't even begin to wrap a thought around. So I leave you all with this as my Dad would say, "Live each day as if it were your last." Celebration of Life Monday, December 15, 2014, 2:00-5:00 pm, Mountain View Celebration of Life Center in The Aspen Chapel. Viewing is available Monday, 12:00-8:00 pm. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. Remembrances may be shared at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.
