Charles Brown Obituary

Charles David Brown Charles David Brown left this earth on August 12, 2016, the way he lived his entire life, with quiet dignity, grace and courage. Chuck was born June 11, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent his early years visiting the family farm in Iowa where he developed his lifelong love for all animals, horseback riding, and quiet country life. After his family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1953, Chuck enjoyed an idyllic Northwest childhood fishing, hunting and skiing, all activities he enjoyed throughout his life. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1966 with varsity letters in a number of sports. He attended Western Washington University where he played college basketball and received his BA in 1970. He attended the University of Washington School of Law, receiving his JD in 1974. Chuck brought his quiet intellect and abiding principles to his law career, which spanned from the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Seattle, to Assistant General Solicitor for Burlington Northern Railroad, to Brown & Brown, a law partnership he shared with his father. His career concluded at the Washington State Office of Insurance Commissioner in Olympia where he was Senior Counsel for the past twelve years. Chuck is survived by his wife Marijean Holland, mother Prudy Brown, brother Mike Brown, sister Holly Fair and her husband, David. He is also survived by his extended family including uncle David Brown, aunt Martha Allen, and four loving nephews: Chris Brown and his partner Heather Dyer; Ben Brown, his wife Brittney and three children, Aidan, Jonah and Zoe; and Mac and Ole Fair. Chuck generously shared "farm life" at his Tenino home with his stepson Jerry Price and his wife, Erin; stepdaughter Jeanie-Marie Price and her husband, Erik Christensen; and with grandchildren Brenna and Hope Price and Harris and Lenora Mae Christensen, all of whom he loved and who loved him deeply. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, William Brown, and his sister-in-law, Lee Brown. In accordance with Chuck's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Remembrances can be made to the Hoh River Trust (www.hohrivertrust.org) or the charity of your choice. The family can receive correspondence at PO Box 393, Tenino, WA 98589.
