Conrad Graham Obituary

Conrad Dewitt Graham, 78, of Lacey, Washington died August 25, 2005, at home. Surviving are his loving and supportive wife, Esther; their Scotty dog Duffer; Esther's daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Bob Doran; their adopted daughter and caregiver Sina Sar; his daughters, Susan Wanager (Steven), Patricia Adye, and Nancy Graham (Dale Henley); his grandsons, Zachary Graham Wanager and Graham Adye; his brothers, Ernie Graham and John Douglas Graham; and sister, Antoinette Lee Mason. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery, off Cleveland Ave. SE, Tumwater, Washington. Con was born in Bellingham, Washington, on July 6, 1927. His parents were James Conrad Graham and Elizabeth (Dewitt) Graham. At the age of 17, during WWII, Con enlisted in the Navy, serving on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. After the war, Con received a B.A Degree from WSU and later his Master's Degree from the University of Washington. He worked for the Dept. of Social Services in Whatcom County and on Cypress Island; was the Welfare Administrator in Thurston County; Chief of Training for the Department of Social and Health Services in Olympia and his last position with the Department, prior to his retirement, was as the Welfare Administrator for Jefferson and Clallam Counties, officed in Port Angeles. He married his longtime friend, Esther Boardman, in January 2000. While living in Allyn, Con and Esther enjoyed golfing together and Duffer enjoyed riding around the course in their golf cart. Until prevented by his illness, Con enjoyed playing golf with his friends, reading mysteries, baking bread, cooking, gardening and walking Duffer. Con will be missed by family and friends. Memorials in Con's name may be made to Assured Home Health Care and Hospice, 3929 Martin Way, SE, Olympia, WA, 98506. Their therapists and nurses were wonderfully helpful to him in his final days.
