Douglas Rogers Obituary

Douglas Graham Rogers 1950 2017 Douglas Graham Rogers passed away at this home in Tumwater on May 28, 2017 at the age of 66. He was the son of Dale and Patricia (Medbury) Rogers, born in Swedish Hospital in Seattle on August 23, 1950 and lived the first 3 years of his life in a house-boat in Portage Bay. After his father entered the Air Force, Doug, like most "military brats", spent many years in many different homes and schools: Tripoli, Libya; Lakewood WA; Seattle WA; Arlington, VA; Eastcote Middlesex, England and finally Bellevue, NE. While living in England, Doug was very involved in the Boy Scout program and with the International Scout Club. He was awarded his Eagle Scout Badge by the current Lord Baden-Powell family and also earned the coveted Wood Badge. Doug graduated from Bellevue High School and 4 years later was a distinguished ROTC graduate from Kearney State College NE with a degree in Psychology. The next 4 years were at Fort Benning, GA where he underwent Ranger training and worked in race relations. While in Georgia, he took graduate studies in Psychology and Counseling at a local college in Columbus which led to several years of counseling at Boys Homes in Nebraska and Colorado. While living in the mountains of Colorado, Doug commuted to Fort Collins for night classes in horticulture and worked at his local country club as a landscaper. After joining his parents in Olympia, he held landscaping jobs and finally worked for the Department of Information Services as a computer operator and then in database security. Doug is survived by his father, brother Steven (Cindy) and brother Willam (Vered). He will always be remembered as a very smart, well-read, friendly man, and as his neighbors all say sweet and generous.

one of the most wonderful discoveries of our life in Olympia was Doug. He was a friend. He had deep feelings, that he often hid with humor and clowning around. He will always be remembered for his friendship, his ready smile, his antics, his love of others. You will be missed, Doug.
