Floyd Gilbert Obituary
Died March 7, 2011, at home in East Olympia shortly after his 84th birthday. Served in WWII; then worked 25 years as a lineman at Puget Power before medical disability and subsequent retirement. Proud 60-year member of IBEW Local 77. Enjoyed family, farm life, and fabricating a good story. Did not spend money on himself, but generously loaned money to family and friends in time of need. Always punctual and ever pragmatic, he was ready to leave his chronic pain and join his "bride" in a better place. Preceded in death by wife of 60 years Greta Gilbert, son Orville Gilbert, and grandson David Seed. Survived by daughters Dorothy (Tim) Root-Ferguson, Sue (Kelley) Mooers, and Catherine Stephens; nephew Les (Joanie) Gilbert; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him. At Floyd's request, there will be no service; a private family memorial will be held.

I'm very sorry to learn of Floyd's passing, I know he is in a better place! I was blessed to have meet him years ago as I also worked for Puget Power. Floyd was a true gentleman, always kind, friendly, polite, nurturing, and comforting. I often think of him!

We used to live across the street from Floyd and Greta and enjoyed many a conversation with Floyd when we'd meet him on one of his many walks down the street. He and Greta were great neighbors. Sue (McIlroy) Dobratz
