Gail Richards Obituary

Gail M. Richards Gail Marie Sollie Richards, 73, peacefully passed away Monday night, September 2, 2013 with her three children at her side. Gail was born in Aberdeen, WA on November 11, 1939 to Marian Isabelle Sollie and the late Gylfi Magnar Sollie. Gail was a beautiful, loving, happy woman who loved her family above all else. She was always so proud of her eight grandchildren and all the joy they brought to her life. Her love of education and intellectual conversation was instilled in her by her parents. She passed on this admiration for education to her children and grandchildren. Traveling was one of Gail's favorite past times and luckily she was able to explore many beautiful places with her family and friends and share a sunset, the nighttime the beach and memories. A lover of all card games and specifically bridge, Gail would play bridge seven days a week if able. Marian Sollie, who resides in Olympia, WA at the age of 100, still loves this favored pastime. Her treasured only sibling, Beth Moodenbaugh, also of Olympia, WA, shares her love for games and laughter. In Fort Wayne, IN where Gail lived for 40 years, she was able to play bridge with her dear friends, who even travelled to Ohio and MI to be with her. Her smile and positive outlook will forever be in our memories. Gail was a graduate of Weatherwax High School, Aberdeen, WA. She attended Lewis and Clark College, Portland, OR and Grays Harbor Jr. College, Aberdeen, WA with an associate degree then finished her schooling at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR and received her BS in General Science. She started her career at Boeing in Seattle, WA in 1960 in the math department and finished working in Ft. Wayne, IN with ITT as an executive assistant. Gail is survived by her children Linda (Robert) Myers of Columbus, OH; Wade (Janice) Richards of Fort Gratiot, MI; and Jill (Jacob) Ramig of Saint Peters, MO: mother Marian Sollie; sister Beth (Jerry) Moodenbaugh of Olympia, WA; special sister LaRee Phelps Brown of Warren, OH; and grandchildren Blake, Will, Mimi, Becca, Tori, Anastasia, Charlotte, and Harrison. Nieces and nephews Mark (Lore), Moodenbaugh; Blake (Tansy) Moodenbaugh; Nicole (Jody) Dronen; and Kyle (Cylia) Moodenbaugh and their children Kylie, Allison, Caleb, and Madisen. A celebration of Gail's life will take place Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Saint Joseph's United Methodist Church, in Fort Wayne, IN. Donations can be made in Gail's name to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) www.theaftd.org.

Aunt Gail will be greatly missed, but always remembered through the wonderful family times that we shared together. Christmastime at Grandma and Grandpa's in Seattle(wow! 33years ago?) with both of our families was the best Christmas ever. Many more pleasant memories of visits from Aunt Gail and her family. If only we had lived closer there would've been much more. Rest in peace Aunt Gail.

Dear aunt gail, I am so thankful that you have been a part of my life. From spending christmas's in seattle, hiding under mattresses in the hall in ft. Gail and Beth were always the highlight of my trip to Aberdeen, WA when my mom and dad took me to see all the Gerhardt relatives. Cousin Gail and Beth were so much a part of those trips. Reading through her lifetime experiences I had no idea we bothe attended Lewis &Clark College in Portland, OR. I will miss her greatly
