James Wieland Obituary

James Lee Wieland

After a courageous four-month battle with pancreatic
cancer, lifelong Harbor resident James Lee Wieland, 57, died February 18, 2011. He was born September 17, 1953, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Orbrey and Sharilyn (Peterson) Wieland.
Jim attended St. Mary School, Hoquiam, and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1972. He married Shee-La Olson on June 1, 1985, in Aberdeen.
He worked for 34 years in the bread business, for Langendorf, Gai's, and most recently, Franz Bakery. Jim's first two years were in bread delivery, and for the rest of his career he was the Aberdeen route supervisor. Illness forced him to retire in January of this year.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He will be remembered for his robust laugh and spirit, as well as his incredible kindness, steadfastness, loyalty and work ethic. Many referred to him as "Wheels".
He and Shee-La vacationed in their fifth-wheel, and traveled to Worldmark resorts across the country. Jim's many hobbies included cooking, woodworking and home improvement projects.
During his childhood years, Jim enjoyed spending time at his family's summer home on Totten Inlet near Steamboat Island. Later he became an avid outdoorsman, and treasured time spent fishing, clam digging and hunting, particularly duck hunting with his friends at Laidlaw Island Gun Club.
Jim was a member of the Hoquiam Elks Lodge, the Poggie Club, and the Teamsters Local 252.
He is survived by his wife, Shee-La of Aberdeen; two children, Jennifer (Aaron) Blair of Lake Stevens and Aric Bednarik of Los Angeles, CA; parents, Orbrey and Sharilyn of Hoquiam; siblings Joy (John) Schmitt of Ocean Shores, LeeAnn (Brian) Oszman of Aberdeen, Susan (Tom Niemi) of Aberdeen and Tom (Anita) of Olympia. Also grandchildren Xander Blair and Spencer Bednarik, in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and support of Dr. John Bausher, Dr. Paul Robertson, the staff at Providence Western Washington Oncology, and the doctors and nurses in the oncology unit at Providence St. Peter Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 26, 1:00 p.m., at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge. A Memorial Mass for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, February 25, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church in Hoquiam. His family recommends memorials to charities of choice. Remembrances may be shared online at: www.colemanmortuary.net.

My deepest condolences to family and friends. I never duck hunted with Jim but our fishing trips were always adventures I will never forget. So sad... depot
