John Huddleston Obituary

John David Huddleston The life of John David Huddleston was a life lived out in generosity, kindness, and calm strength. He had a deep love for his family and strong faith in Christ. John was born June 22nd, 1953 and went to be with the Lord on April 28th, 2017. He is the oldest of three children and only son of Thomas Earl and Sarah Huddleston. Both an entrepreneur and family man, John's ambition started early buying and selling horses in high school in Alaska. He graduated from Diamond High in Anchorage, Alaska and completed his graduate degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1977. After an 8 year start in the mortgage industry, he spent 12 years building custom homes and ended his career working in the banking industry. John married the love of his life Christa Ijames in 1974 and had two children, Sara and Luke. As a family, they have many memories hiking, camping, and boating. John's deep faith, kindness, and sense of justice has been a hallmark of his life. He will be dearly missed until we meet again. A memorial service will be held on May 3rd at 12:00 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Olympia. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28207.

John came down to Utah in 1970 looking for horses to take to Alaska. He was still16. He purchased a big box van, a former Budweiser Beer truck and fitted it out to haul 4 horses inside and two more behind in a horse trailer. Our family of horse trainers helped him find some really nice horses, including a lovely jumper, a quarter horse and a really big gelding. My husband and John made the drive from Salt Lake City to Anchorage, via the Alcan Highway. When they reached the end of the Alcan they stole the highway sign, broke it in half and my husband kept half. I remember John as being a remarkably bright, likable and responsible young man.

John was a wonderful friend in Anchorage, Alaska. Your husband a father was one of the most kind, steady, gracious, generous and caring young people I have ever known.

I am honored to have called him my friend
