Margaret LeClerc Obituary

Margaret Anne Lindley LeClerc 1921 - 2018 Early Sunday morning, May 6, Mom passed away peacefully at Bonaventure, Lacey. She was 96 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her son, Roger II. She is survived by her children Michael Dawn Peters (Ben) and Robert LeClerc (Brenda); grandchildren Michael Peters (Jennifer), Janna Peters (Jamison Unger), Lindley LeClerc (Nelson Sanchez), and Natalie Ames (Ben); five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Born in Olympia to Harry and Henrietta Lindley, Mom spent her early years sailing on Budd Inlet with friends in her small sailing skiff and biking Olympia and the surrounding rural areas. She attended Lincoln Elementary, Olympia High School, and Washington State University where she joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She graduated with a degree in Music and achieved membership in the scholastic honoraries Mu Phi Epsilon and Phi Kappa Phi, where she met Dad at the initiation. Shortly after their graduation, they married. After World War II, Mom and Dad settled in Seattle, and then moved to Olympia where they raised their three children. She and dad traveled to Europe, Hawaii and New Zealand, but Maui was the favorite destination. Mom was a community contributor, active in her Presbyterian church circles and choir, Kappa Alpha Theta - Olympia Alumni Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution - Sacajawea Chapter, the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, The YMCA aqua aerobic group, and Girl Scout leader of Troop 6. Throughout their lives, Mom and Dad enjoyed camping, boating, water-skiing with the family and cruises throughout Puget Sound on the "MIROJ". As the extended family grew, Mom enjoyed spending time at the beach, more boating and kayaking, taking drives on "back roads", family gatherings, brunches and lunches with family and friends at O'Malley's, and the occasional trips to Maui. Mom - we love you and miss you, your witty retorts and expressions ("Oh Dear!") and your appreciation for nature (except Scotch Broom) and your compassion for others. Our family would like to thank Mom's swim class "drivers", the wonderful staff and caregivers in Bonaventure of Lacey's Memory Care, and the compassionate professionals from Assured Hospice. You aided and enriched her final years. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Mom would request that donations be made to the Salvation Army, World Vision, or your favorite charity.
