Marjorie G. "Marge" Fuller

Marjorie Fuller Obituary

Marjorie "Marge" G. Fuller passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 83. Marge was born August 12, 1924 to Frederick and Ruth Hofknecht in Mandan, North Dakota. When the Depression hit, her family moved to Portland, Oregon. After she graduated from high school she enlisted in the Navy and served two years in the Bethesda Naval Hospital as a nurse, and received two medals. Upon discharge, she headed off to college at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where she met her husband, Joseph L Fuller and began raising her family of six - five girls and one boy. When the youngest was only one and a half, she was left to raise the family on her own.
In 1966, she drove the Yukon Alaskan Highway with her six children and made a home in Olympia, where she worked as a nurse at St. Peter's Hospital, as well as other jobs, in order to support her family and put them through college. In 1985, she retired from nursing and moved to Yakima.
Marge was a gentle, caring, hard-working individual who was known for her contagious giggle and time spent caring for others. She always made life fun, no matter how hard times were. She was a scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and a 4-H leader. She didn't like to be "fussed" over, but was the first one to help someone else in need. She loved to giggle and have fun.
Marge was preceded in death by her father, mother, and two brothers. She is survived by her six children, Diana Carlson, of Pasco; Denise Edgerton, of Fairbanks, Alaska; Donna Stallings, of Olympia; Doris Dorr, of Toppenish; Darlene Fuller, of Olympia; Leo Fuller, of Palm Springs, California; her sixteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Marge will be missed terribly by her family and friends. No funeral services will be held. The family will gather for a private celebration of life.

Fuller Family- We are so sorry for your Mother's passing. Our prayers are with you at this difficult time. My family have so many great memories of your Mother years ago in Fairbanks during the early days. I remember staying with you all when just a young girl, with my sister and baby brother and your Mother's yummy oatmeal in the mornings! She was an amazing woman who took such wonderful care of her family. Love and fond memories from the family of Harold and Arvita Bonner.
