I remember mary from high school at aquinas academy in Tacoma. She was a compassionate friend and a good student. Her smile seemed to come from deep within her.

I was part of that Salzburg Family of which Mary spoke. She was an integral part of that year abroad. We were fortunate to share stories of many fun adventures and pictures (such memories!)at a Salzburg Reunion together last June at the University of Portland. Rest in God's peace, Mary!!!

How do you say good-bye to a friend of more than 60 yrs. You don't; you just carry them in your heart forever.I just loved our movies and lunch together.I always knew I was home when I was with Mary, no matter where I lived or how long I was gone we just picked up where we and left off.She was the sister I never had.I can't imagine her not being here anymore.

I first met Mary in 1974 when I was about six. She went to Dental Hygiene school with my mom, Sherry McKinney. Although two people could not be more different they were very close friends and did so much together. From white-water rafting, traveling to Mexico, going to plays and loving life. Mary was always so nice to me and in the past five years or so we became quite close. She went from being who I referred to as "My Mom's friend" to my friend and I loved her very much. She was a very special soul. Never a harsh word, never complained, never asked for anything. I am so grateful for her friendship and will miss her for the rest of my life.
