Ronald Hinzpeter Obituary

Ron left us in the evening hours of January 2nd, comfortable and peaceful at his home at the age of 87. Ron was born the youngest of three boys to Paul and Lucy Hinzpeter of Albion, Nebraska in 1920. He grew up to serve his country in World War II and then came back to make western Washington his home. He learned to be an expert glazier and worked in cabinet making for many, many years. Ron also volunteered in the Black Lake Search and Rescue. In 1988 he married Bernice, his wife of 19 and a half years, and to this day remains the love of her life. Ron and Bernice lived in Sequim for thirteen and a half years, where they lived on more than one acre covered in fruit trees, lavender shrubs and sweet pea vines. To this day they are members of the Sequim Travelks (Ron was even a "Wagon Master" for a year!) and the Sequim Elks Lodge. After Sequim, they moved to Tumwater where they have lived since. Ron was a life-time avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to hunt all over Washington - he even liked hunting for rocks! Though Ron loved to fish on Offut Lake he never met a fish or river he didn't like. Ron took pride in his military service and is a life-time member of the Olympia VFW Post 318. Ron and Bernice loved to travel together by RV, during which his CB handle was "Snowbird" and hers was "Squeaky". Memorable trips include a very adventurous family trip to Mexico, when on their return they were caught in a sand storm just miles from the California border. They also took two trips to Texas: on the first, it poured rain non-stop, and on the second, it froze solid in San Antonio! Ron and Bernice also took a 5th wheel trip to Virginia to see his son and daughter-in-law. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Herman. He is survived by his wife Bernice; sons, Ron (Karen) of Centralia, Delvin (Susie) of Tenino and Delane of Edgewood; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Ron's great sense of humor and snappy wit will be missed by everyone. At Ron's request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers please send contributions in his honor to Assured Home Health and Hospice (1821 Cooks Hill Rd #200, Centralia, Washington 98502). Arrangements are under the direction of Mills & Mills Funeral Home.

Grandpa was very loved and will be missed by many. I am sad to see him leave, but I know he is no longer suffering and he is with grandma.
