She was born the eighth of nine children to Jerry and Ruth Eliza (Morgan) Simmons on September 3, 1928, in Colfax, Washington. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Bob Rhimer, and they spent 56 happy years together. He passed away February 21, 2015. Shirley was great at golf, bowling, and quilting. She also spent more than 20 years taking trips with the great bunch of South Sams RV friends. Shirley is survived by her children, Lora Bruce of Olympia, Billie (Ralph) Beckman of Port Orchard, Washington, and Sharon (Daryl) Ford of Sagle, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and special friend, Leon Macomber. She is predeceased by her husband, Bob; parents; and siblings, Marjorie Gray, Irene Baker, Jessie Edwards, Patricia Burch, Lawrence Simmons, Roy Simmons, Frank Simmons, and Janice Simmons (who died at age two). The family conveys a big "Thank You" to Ernie and Stephine Brown, Eve and Marsha Brow, Mark and Marilin Callender, and Leon Macomber for their love and support. At Shirley's request, there will be no services. She will be placed with Bob at a cemetery in Spokane, Washington. Memorial cards may be sent in care of Sharon Ford, P.O. Box 876, Sagle, ID 83860.
