Victor Boyer Obituary

Victor Boyer
February 22, 1940 - July 7, 2021
Olympia, Washington - Victor "Vic" A. Boyer Jr. was born on February 22nd, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 7th, 2021 in Olympia, Washington. Vic was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, teacher, mentor, role model, friend and all around great man. He was known for his gentle nature, sense of humor, generosity, compassion, and positivity.
His teaching career in Rainer, Washington and in California spanned 45 ½ years and he served as an elementary teacher, a sports coach, a middle- and high-school band and choir director, and a music specialist. His band and choral performances, along with his Winter programs, were legendary community events that celebrated and highlighted all his students' talents.
Music was Vic's life-long ministry and an expression of his faith. He was a member of the choir at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and served as interim director for six months. He was proud to perform in the Capital City Chorus.
Vic's passion for music was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 46 years, Penny, and his children: Steve (Maria), Karri (John), Victor Boyer III (Krysi), Joseph (Lokela), and Nathan (Becky) and the many grandchildren he loved so dearly: Luke, Avery, Annabel, Addison, Elliot, Caleb, Harper, Rowan, Quinton, and Evelyn.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 13th, at 2pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1515 Harrison Ave NW, Olympia, WA. The church requests that all visitors over the age of 3 be masked. To watch the service online, go to: www.gloriadeiolympia.org/Boyer-Memorial/
Vic's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the Olympia Union Gospel Mission, or his favorite international charity, Doctors Without Borders.

Vic was a colleague and friend. Over the years, I asked and received advice which was greatly appreciated. He wore several different hats over the years we taught; he was versatile. Vic loved music and music education. He worked hard with his students to get the best from them. He spent a number of years working on behalf of teachers as a leader in the local Union. I am so sorry that the community has lost a special voice. To Penny and the family, thank you for sharing Vic with countless students, who appreciate music and their skills, in part, because of Vic. He will be missed!

I have so many fond memories of Vic. Working with the cows, singing, joking, Rainier Elementary Bike rides- The list goes on and on. He was a very important part of my life as a young man. He always made me feel welcomed even when I am sure I was under foot too much.
I will hold with me forever his smile and the twinkle he always had in his eyes.
To the "Boyer Bunch," I am so sorry for your tremendous loss- he was absolutely one of the best.

I was so sorry to hear of Mr. Boyer´s passing. He was my second band teacher at Rainier and was the first band teacher to my children. I think of him every time we sing Happy Birthday. Thank you, Mr. Boyer. You will be missed. Condolences to Penny and the family.

Sending prayers to your family so sorry for your loss and ours too. What a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend. I played keyboard and organ from childhood but wasn't brave enough to perform in public until I was encouraged by Mr Boyer. As with so many of us, I have countless and priceless memories spent in choir and music. Us 80s girls wanted to start our own rock band, Class of 1983. RIP, see you on the other side my friend

My wife Tina and I purchased Vic and Penny's 'farm' in Yelm and were the benefactors of a personal tour including stories of the properties history and a flash of the wonderful couple we were to follow. We are so grateful to have had that moment with the kind soul Vic Boyer. Heaven is a better place today.

We send our condolences to the Boyer family and to Penny, may your heart be full of the wonderful life you shared, you are truly blessed.

Was so sad when my sister Sherri told me of Vic's passing. He was a great teacher, mentor, and friend. We shared the same dry sense of humor and I still sing the birthday dirge to my sister and she sings it to me too. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Boyer was an amazing teacher. I had him in many classes. My favorite was choir, he taught me to have the confidence to get over my stage fright and sing multiple solos. He was an amazing man. Condolences to his family and friends.

Vic was my 5th grade teacher at Rainier Elementary. He introduced me to classical music & encouraged me to play instruments in band. He was a kind man, and a wonderful teacher. He was so dedicated to his students. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to the Boyer family.

Penny and Family: I was so sad to hear about Vic's passing. He was such a good guy and loved his job and the children he touched with music. I know the choir in heaven has a beautiful new addition. It was a honor to work with Vic and be part of his life. My sympathy goes out to all of you. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
