Virginia Gates Obituary

Virginia T. Gates "Ginny" Virginia T. Gates "Ginny" born in Menominee, Michigan passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at her home in Olympia at the age of 80. Ginny loved her family and friends and will be missed by the many lives she touched. She is survived by her brother, Bob Taylor; sons, David, John and Bill Odegaard; and daughter, Deborah Craydon. Ginny loved reading, gardening and the occasional conversation about politics. Ginny lived a full life working for the state in various administrative positions, helping to get the St Peter Hospital auxiliary off the ground, being a loving wife, great mother and friend to many in the communities she lived. Ginny was a true believer in living life the way she wanted to, something she did each and every day. to Ginny's kids....I wrote once but am afraid I didn't do it correctly so will try again. Your Mom was a friend from childhood. From elementary school through high school we were together...birthday parties, girl scout camp, playing in the summer at Pine Beach to high school parties. She cooked the first good hamburger I ever had when in our teens. I enjoyed a short visit with her in Olympia when I was west visiting my son & his family in Seattle about 10 years ago. John, I framed the Orcas picture you gave me at that time. I feel you did a wonderful job writing about her. Know this is a tough time for you all, so I hope wonderful memories will help sustain you. She loved you all very much. Fondly, Jean Boren
