Wayne Reffner Obituary

Wayne J. Reffner, Jr. Wayne J. Reffner, Jr., 70, of Olympia, passed away on May 23, 2014 at Madigan Army Medical Center due to complications from a stroke. He was born July 19, 1943 in Lynn, MA to Wayne and Florence Reffner. Wayne grew up as a military dependent eventually residing at Ft. Lewis, WA where he graduated from Clover Park High School in 1961. After graduation, Wayne enlisted in the Air Force and began his own travels around the world. Wayne married Ellen Wood in 1965. Their family grew to include two sons, Patrick and Joseph. The four of them continued their travels until Wayne retired from the military in 1981 settling in the South Puget Sound area. He was employed with the Washington Dept of Licensing, working in the Information Systems Department, retiring in 2006. His retirement years were filled with traveling, family gatherings, and enjoying his grandchildren and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Ellen; sons, Patrick (Karen) of Edgewood, WA and Joseph (Susan) of NYC; grandsons, Carl of Pittsburgh, PA and Alex and Jacob of Edgewood, WA; sister, Patricia Gill and brother, Michael Reffner, both of Olympia, WA. Funeral services and interment were conducted on May 29, 2014 at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
