Benjamin Boys Obituary

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN – Benjamin, 57, was the son of Michael D. and the late Joanne M. (Rigal) Boys passed away from postoperative complications following an aorta transplant on June 26, 2024, at the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan. His mother preceded him in death on December 3, 2021. He was employed as a Project Engineer at Macom Technology Solutions in Ann Arbor, where he worked for over twenty years.
Benjamin was a musician, artist, sculpture, singer, and builder. In his younger years, he was very involved in the First United Methodist Church's Youth program. He went on many mission work trips; they included going to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and twice to St. Louis, Missouri. Benjamin graduated from Plymouth High School in 1985, then attended Roosevelt's Chicago College of Performing Arts. He later received his associate's degree in audio engineering from Indiana University, Bloomington.
Benjamin was one of the original founding members of the Jazz/Fusion rock band Straightaway, a local band in Plymouth, Indiana. He was the band's drummer and was the recording engineer for the band's first album: Songs of Hope. Being a kind, intelligent, and thoughtful person, Ben was always ready to greet people with a hug - - an expression of the love he had for people-and lived a life of one who loved and respected nature. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and raising his daughter Phoebe, which brought him exceptional joy!
