DORIS KOLBE Obituary

CURWENSVILLE - Doris M. Kolbe, 84, of Curwensville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024 while at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 29, 1940 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late W. Scott and Pearl I. (Curry) McFadden.

On June 20, 1959, she married Richard M. Kolbe and they shared 58 beautiful years together. After Richard's death and in 2019, she met Ray McCracken, and she shared the last six years of her life with him lovingly by her side.

Her friends and family were the center of her life. Everyone who knew her loved her. She always made sure everyone knew they were special to her in her many loving ways.

She is survived by her fiance, Ray McCracken of New Millport; two daughters, Dana Haley and fiance Bruce Barrett of Curwensville, and Darlene Ardary and husband Bryan of Curwensville; four grandchildren, Ryan Haley and wife Tina, Scott Haley and wife Stacy, Alyssa Stricek and husband Devin, and Eliza Ardary and partner Drake Rito; one great grandson, John Ryan Haley; five step-great grandchildren, Brian Jasper, Alyssa Cuyler and husband Zac, Cole LaRock and partner Rachel Glenny, Veada and Lane Stricek; and great great grandchildren, Carson, and Trenton Larock, Noah and Gabe Cuyler, Rowan and Luca Jasper; a sister, Betty Barkley; and a brother, John McFadden. She is also survived by Ray's children, Shannon, Fred, Pat, Gina and Derek, whom she loved as her own.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Kolbe on Aug. 22, 2017. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Judith Johnson; a sister-in-law Margaret McFadden; two brothers-in-law Richard Barkley and Thomas Johnson; a great granddaughter, Tiana LaRock; and her beloved dog, Waggs.

Doris was employed as a teacher's assistant for the Central Intermediate Unit for over 35 years and she bonded with many students and teachers throughout her career. In her spare time, she loved to quilt, read and knit. She enjoyed Penn State football and was also a master at crafts, decorating and making candy to fulfill the McFadden's love for sweets.

She was a life-long member of Curwensville United Methodist Church and her faith was never ending.

Funeral services will be held at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Thursday at 6 p.m. with Pastor Don Smith officiating.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensvillle.

Friends will be received at the Curwensville United Methodist Church on Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville Public Library, 601 Beech St., Curwensville, PA 16833; or the Curwensville United Methodist Church, 602 State St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
