Gloria Guglielmi Obituary

CURWENSVILLE - Gloria A. Guglielmi, 101, formerly of Curwensville, passed away, Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Centre Care, Bellefonte.

She was born on Nov. 18, 1923 in Sykesville, the daughter of Arthur E. and Ruby (Zimmerman) Swanson.

She graduated from Curwensville High School in 1942. After high school, she attended Beauty School in Williamsport.

For over 50 years, Gloria co-owned and operated Arlon's Beauty Shop in Curwensville with her sister-in-law, Alliene Guglielmi Johnstone. She was a member of Curwensville United Methodist and the Curwensville GFWC.

On July 1, 1950, Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Cosmo "Gus" Guglielmi in Curwensville, he preceded her in death in 2006.

Gloria and Gus had three children, surviving are Edward Guglielmi of Curwensville and partner Sue Sylak, and Nancy and Les Kavelak of Boalsburg. Gloria was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan A. Guglielmi, in 1976.

Gloria is survived by five grandchildren, Christina (Doug) Ardary, Helena, Mont., Brian (Lauren) Guglielmi, Spring Mills, Susan (Matthew) Kalgren, Whitefish, Mont., Kathleen (Michael) Morrone, and Vincent Guglielmi (fiancée Carly) Pittsburgh; five great-grandchildren, Anthony and Sarah Guglielmi, Taylor Gloria and Brooke Kalgren and Emerald Morrone. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Kathryn Guglielmi Wolf; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Sara Swanson; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Jack Lewis, Mabel and John Hudson, Lillian and Miller Young. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Robert Wolf, Alliene and Arch Johnstone, and Norma and Robert Barnoff.

Private funeral services will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville at the convenience of the family with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Curwensville.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for family and friends at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Curwensville Cemetery Association (Oak Hill) PO Box 252 Curwensville, PA 16833, or Curwensville United Methodist Church, 602 State St., or Curwensville Area Alumni Association, PO Box 352 Curwensville, PA 16833.

The family of Gloria would like to thank the caring staff at Centre Care Rehab and Wellness Center, Bellefonte, Colonial Court Yard in Clearfield, and Grane Hospice Care for the attention and care provided to Gloria over the recent years.
