JOANN PEPPERDAY Obituary

PHILIPSBURG - Joann Pepperday, 91, of Philipsburg, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born Aug. 7, 1932 in Coalport, she was a daughter of William J. and Anna E. (Dunbar) Hazelton.

Joann was a 1950 graduate of Philipsburg High School and attended Thompson Business School in Harrisburg. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper at the former Killion Motors. Joann was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, where she was a member of the Circle of Faith. She was also a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star. Joann enjoyed traveling, especially visiting England and touring the United States with her husband Chuck and her niece Barb and her husband Dean. She never missed her nieces and nephews' special occasions and would always send a card and gift. Joann was a kind, quiet soul that was an excellent cook and a great homemaker. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

On Dec. 15, 1937 in Philipsburg, she married Charles E. "Chuck" Pepperday, who passed away on Oct. 26, 2010. Also preceding her in death is a brother, William Hazelton and wife Olive; a sister, Jean Drury and husband Robert; father and mother in-law Walter and Hattie Pepperday; and brothers-in-law, Fred Pepperday and Rodney Pepperday.

Joann is survived by three sisters-in-law, Beverly Thomas and husband Robert of Philipsburg, Joy Pepperday of Honeybrook and Sandy Pepperday of Philipsburg; nieces and nephews, Carol Hornung of New York, Barbara Aschenbrenner and husband Dean of New York, George Hazelton and wife Marie of Telford, Doug Hazelton and wife Mimi of Philipsburg, Robert Drury of Florida, Debbie Havens of State College, Doug Pepperday and wife Amy of Philipsburg, Susan Carns and husband Jeff of Clearfield, Scott Pepperday and wife Jan of Philipsburg, Robin Hawk of Levittown, Bill Beveridge of Levittown, and Jodi Laursen and husband Chris of Levittown; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home, Inc., 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 12 p.m. until the hour of service at 2 p.m. Pastor Laura Kyler will officiate at the service.

Joann will be laid to rest next to her husband Chuck at the Philipsburg Cemetery.
