KATHY RAFFERTY Obituary

CURWENSVILLE - Kathy Rafferty, 72, entered eternal rest on the morning of July 18, 2024. Kathy passed away peacefully at her house on Ridge Avenue (Curwensville) and this was of the upmost importance to her. She was surrounded by family and her best friend of 60 plus years, Belle Maitre.

Kathy was a humble person of modest means, but never went without. Kathy enjoyed the little things in life…the things that can't bought. She was crafty, enjoyed sewing and planting flowers. She thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of nature, such as a picture of the autumn leaves, a beautiful flower, or the hydrangeas in her yard. Nothing made her happier than a good meal with her family. Kathy's life was a lesson about "it's not what you have, but what you give".

She spent most of her life caring for others and even in her last days she was focused on making sure that her sisters and sons were taken care of. Her sons Scott and Jon were her pride and Joy. She raised them to go on and enjoy successful engineering careers in various states, but still she kept in touch with them daily. The bond between Kathy and her son Scott was especially close and he spent the last year living nearby so that she was well cared for.

Kathy was the daughter of the late William (Bill) and Ruth Bloom.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Gene Rafferty.

She is survived by all of her sisters and brothers, Ronald Bloom, Roger Bloom, Debra Patterson (Bloom), Susan Sylak (Bloom), and Jackie Bloom and her sons Scott and Jon Rafferty. Kathy is also survived by three wonderful grandchildren, Josie Rafferty, Danny Rafferty, and Will Rafferty, whom she loved dearly.

A small service for family and close friends will be held at a later date and per Kathy's request her ashes will be spread on Mossy Hill, which overlooks her home on Ridge Avenue and is among her fondest childhood memories.

The family is not accepting donations at this time, but rather requests that Kathy be remembered in everyone's thoughts. The next time that you're out for a walk, or drive, or just sitting at home and you see a beautiful sky drop, flower, or hear a meaningful song, please think of Kathy.

We grew up living next door and we were always doing fun things together...swimming, playing games, eating fruit from all their trees...we had fun at mossy....eating tea berries and playing for hours...we were always at each others house...so many good memories growing up...she will be missed and I know she is at a better place and can breath easily!!!
