GRASSFLAT - Shirley Ann Pillot, age 88, was born in Grassflat on March 31, 1936 and went to be with the Lord on March 23, 2025 at Heritage Ridge Sr. Living at Windy Hill in Philipsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bo (Andrew); her parents, Gertrude and Howard Nelson; brother, Robert; sister, Louise Patkalitsky; and brother-in-law, Walter Patkalitsky.

She worked briefly in Pontiac, Mich. and also lived near Waterville in a cabin along Pine Creek. In 1961, Shirley and Bo moved into a house only a few yards from where she was born. She belonged to and served Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanse as the treasurer for many years. Shirley enjoyed numerous family gatherings each year and cherished her Swedish heritage. She loved to read and enjoyed craft-work. Many flowers and bird feeders adorned her porch and front yard. Shirley had a vast network of relatives, friends, and neighbors, and loved to be in conversation with them.

Shirley is survived by five children and 12 grandchildren: Howard and wife Christina, State College, and their children, Anna, Boulder, Colo., Carl and his wife Tanya Orellana, Los Angeles, Calif.; Nels and wife Susan, and their son, William Anderson, and their granddaughters Hayden and Viviana, Philipsburg; Neil and wife Karen, Thompsontown, and their sons Benjamin (Jay), Lancaster, Adam, Durham, N.C., and Nicholas, Thompsontown; Kathryn Urbaniak and husband Steven, Newtown, and their sons Luke, Salt Lake City, Utah and Erik, attending Tulane University; Ellen Braucht and her sons Zachary and wife Kassi, Isaac, attending Commonwealth University of PA, Mansfield, and Owen of Coburn.

Shirley is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Eyerly and husband James of Grassflat, and her brother, David Nelson and wife Linda of Lanse. She has many surviving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lanse, and then again one hour prior to the service on Monday, March 31 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vicki Beilfuss officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest in the Grassflat-Lanse Lutheran Cemetery, Grassflat. A luncheon will follow at the Holy Trinity Fellowship Hall.

Shirley and I have:been friends for 80+ years. My family moved from grassflat to Virginia in the mid 40's, but Shirley and I never lost touch..first thought letters then, later, by text and phone calls. I visited her each summer when my family returned to grassflat to visit my grandparents and others. My parents moved back when my dad retired and they are buried at Kylertown cemetery. My husband and I also visited Shirley and Bo in later years. Shirley and I shared many memories and I'll always cherish our friendship. May God bless her family and friends now and always. Please accept our deepest sympathy on your loss. Shirley was a kind and generous woman who welcomed us into her home when we were in town. We will never forget her giggle when someone made a funny remark or told a joke. She will be missed.
