Malcolm Clifford Scott

1930 - 2022

Malcolm passed away at age 91. Malcolm was a native San Franciscan. He was born August 23, 1930, to Marion and Alfred Scott. He attended local schools and was an amateur boxer in high school and college. He graduated from California State University, San Francisco, and completed a master's program in industrial psychology. He was a Korean war veteran serving in the United States Army. Malcolm spent the majority of his working life in the stainless-steel kitchen equipment industry. He was a lifelong yachtsman and happiest sailing his sailboat, Miyot. As a member of the Sausalito Cruising Club, on weekends he raced his sailboat on San Francisco Bay. He also was a long-standing member of the Marin Power and Sail Squadron. He volunteered at the San Francisco Suicide Prevention Center phone lines.In 1969 Malcolm met and married Mabrey Byrnes. They were married 51 years. Mabrey and Malcolm lived in San Francisco and Sausalito for 30 years. In 1998 they retired to Vacaville, building a home on the Byrnes Road property that had been in Mabrey's family for over 100 years. While in Vacaville Malcolm volunteered for the AARP tax assistance program at the McBride Senior Center. From the Solano County Animal Shelter, the couple rescued, spayed, and neutered, finding forever homes for over a thousand cats and kittens.Malcolm traveled extensively with his wife around the globe for fifty years. Some of the travels took them as far as Antarctica, Timbuktu, Mali and the Artic Northwest Passage. Dancing the waltz on New Year's Eve at the Hoffberg Palace in Vienna was a romantic way to start 2003. The Komodo dragons on the island of Komodo, Indonesia were an adrenalin raising moment!He was an avid bridge player playing several days a week, becoming a bronze level life master. On world cruises he would play daily. When the Covid pandemic hit, at the age of 90, Malcolm had to resort to technology. He learned to play duplicate bridge on the computer. Daily he and his bridge partner Peg would play.Malcolm had two children from a previous marriage, Mark Scott and Malcolm E. Scott. He had five grandchildren, Stanley, Alex, Mark, Stella and, Mathew. He also had six great-grandchildren. Malcolm will also be missed by dear family friends Martin, Leticia and Johnny Verdin.Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Alf Scott; and his eldest son, Mark.There will be no formal services per Malcolm's request. Burial will be at the Sacramento Veteran's Cemetery with full military honors.
