Ruth Eubanks Obituary

RUTH MAXWELL EUBANKSRuth Maxwell Eubanks was born in Riverton Wy on June 17, 1925, the second of identical twins. She passed away at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell, Wy on April 26, 2023 at age 97. She was the daughter of William Hedgemen Maxwell and Verna Vinson Maxwell of Riverton, Wy. Interment will be at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery next to her son, James Maxwell Eubanks, who died of leukemia at age 6. After graduating Riverton High School in 1943, she and her twin sister Ruby went to Denver, where they attended University of Denver. In 1946 she married Philip Eubanks of Denver. Philip was a school teacher and taught in Nebraska and Colorado before they eventually moved to Vacaville Ca. in 1955. Ruth earned a master's degree in education from Sacramento State University and taught 2rd grade in Vacaville and Benicia Ca. She moved into school administration and worked as Director of Projects in charge of categorical projects and funds in the Vacaville Unified School District. Ruth was a past member of Delta Phi Upsilon, Phi Delta Kappa, AAUW, and ACSA. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Ruth was a great reader and usually read a book a week. She liked writing and wrote several short stories about growing up during the depression. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she had six certified Revolutionary ancestors. After retirement, Phil and Ruth lived in Vacaville Ca, Riverton Wy, and Powell Wy. Preceding her in death were her parents, W.H. Maxwell and Verna Maxwell, her husband Philip M Eubanks Sr, her brother Oren Maxwell, her sister Ruby Stowe and her beloved son, James M Eubanks. She is survived by her three Sons, Daughter, Ten Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's name may be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
