Sherman Powles Obituary

Jan. 1, 1941 - Sept. 25, 2005

Sherman William Powles passed away on Sept. 25, 2005, at his home in Santa Rosa.

Mr. Powles was born in Shreveport, La., on Jan. 1, 1941. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Dora; his sons, Steve and Scott Powles of Santa Rosa; his brother, Tom Powles of Vacaville; and numerous family and friends.

He graduated from Vacaville High School in 1959 and was an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force for four years, stationed in Germany and France where he shared many fond memories with his wife.

A devoted husband, father and caretaker to his family, he worked as a meat cutter for more than 20 years and was an active member of the Butcher's Union. He was also a longtime member of the Spring Lake Congregation.

An outgoing, friendly and fun-loving individual, he loved cooking and entertaining, gardening, fishing, camping and restoring his 1954 Chevy pickup.

His favorite pastime was being with his family at his favorite place, Napili Shores in Maui, Hawaii. He was a fine and caring man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

At his request, no services will be held.

Dora, I was so sorry to read about Sherman. I know you must be devastated. High School days at Vaca High are long gone, but the memories remain and I can picture both of you like it was yesterday. You have my deepest sympathy and my prayers go out to you and your family.

Dora and family,

It's with regret we learned of Shermans death today. Your in our prayers. Years have past and lives have changed since the days spent on Madrone Street. Never the less, your wonderful family helped shape my memories of that all-to-short period in time. Playing sports with Steve and Scott was always lots of fun. Again, we lift you up in prayer hoping the Lord comforts you and give you strength during this time.
