Judy Parker Obituary

Judy Ann Parker, 78, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:54 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at her home.

Judy was born January 28, 1947, in Castalian Springs, Tennessee, the daughter of Darnell and Amy Likens Parker. On July 1, 1978, she married Berke Hooton.

Judy worked as a preschool teacher for several years and also worked in daycare. She was a longtime member of East Columbus Christian Church. She loved flowers and was an outstanding cook. Judy was a private person but she did what she had to do and took pride in doing the right thing. In her spare time, she also liked to sew and work with crafts. She will be deeply missed by those that know and love her.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Berke; son, John Hooton of Elizabethtown; granddaughters, Catelyn Hooton, Shelby Abate, Raegan Hooton; great-grandchildren, David Currier III, Allison Currier, Kaelynn Gavin, Thea Abate; sister, Shirley Parker, also of Columbus and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

In keeping with the family's request, cremation will take place a memorial service honoring Judy's life will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. and Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Kendall Wildey officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. The memorial service may be live streamed Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at barkesweaverglick.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or East Columbus Christian Church.
