Tracy Thompson Obituary

Tracy Thompson passed away peacefully at home at 3:16 AM on January 30, 2025, at the age of 65. In his final moments, he was surrounded by his wife, Amy, and his children.

He was born on August 16, 1959, in Seymour, the son of Charles and Erma Massey Thompson. He married Amy Gwin on May 30, 1987.

Tracy was a passionate singer, guitarist, avid fisherman, golfer, and space enthusiast. He worked in the used car business as a co-owner and salesperson at Thompson Motors before starting his own wholesale used car business, Bill Barlow Wholesale. He loved using his musical talents to unite families and friends during his many concerts. On Sunday mornings, Tracy often led songs in worship of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Additionally, he dedicated himself to serving others through Alcoholics Anonymous, maintaining 23 years of sobriety.

He is survived by his wife Amy of North Vernon; children, Benjamin (Emily), Jacquelyn (Karan), and Matthew (Nandy); grandchildren Sparrow, Mayme, and Arthur; and brother Terry Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Erma Thompson, and brother Eric Thompson.

A funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the North Vernon Church of the Nazarene, located at 2195 IN-Highway 3, North Vernon, IN. Rev. Caleb Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery located at 315 Pike Street, Vernon, IN. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM also at the church.

In honor of Tracy, memorial donations can be made through Sawyer - Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service to the Tracy Thompson Music Scholarship Fund or the Park Theatre Civic Center.
