U.S. Veteran

William M. Taggart, known to many as Bill, passed away at the age of 92 on January 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Franciscan Health Hospital of Lafayette. Born on November 9, 1932, in Columbus, IN, Bill was the beloved son of the late Ivan and Elizabeth (Freeze) Taggart. A graduate of Columbus High School, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force for four years.

Bill married Delores "Dee" Gustin, on February 12, 1955, in Houston, TX. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2008. Bill was a dedicated family man, survived by his children: Bob Taggart (wife: Johanna) of Fort Worth, TX; Cindy Ciechanowicz (husband: David) of Plainfield, IN Judy Clark (husband: Kevin) of Monticello; Kathy Ruemler-Martin (husband: Jay) of Wolcott; and Susan Taggart (Gene McGowen) of West Lebanon. He was also cherished by his 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In his professional life, Bill was self-employed, running TMP Manufacturing of Reynolds and farming in the Reynolds area. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus in Monticello and enjoyed spending his free time fishing.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Dee, his parents, a granddaughter, Casey Hardebeck, and a son-in-law, Joe Ruemler.

Bill's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
