Mario Lodato Obituary

Mario J. Lodato, Jr.
Mario J. Lodato, Jr., 82 of Ridgefield, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. He was a resident of Ridgefield since 1969.
Mr. Lodato was born on December 23, 1937 in Smithers, West Virginia. He was one of 10 children born to the late Mario and Angela (Castro) Lodato. After initially studying Civil Engineering at the University of Dayton, Mr. Lodato received his Associate's Degree in Construction Engineering from the State University of New York in 1959. After serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers performing surveys in Libya, Algeria and Egypt, Mr. Lodato began his career with Vuono-Lione, Inc. and Frank Mercede and Sons. In 1978 he founded MarLo Associates, Inc., a construction and real estate firm which became a driving force in the revitalization of downtown Stamford.
You could have found him on any given day walking Bedford and Summer Streets, stopping in one of the many restaurants to have a cup of coffee, a cookie or a bowl of ice cream. He loved to speak of the "good old days" and of his varied life experiences. He was a collector of many items and loved photography, travel and good food. He is survived by his loving wife, Josiane (Häni) Lodato of 55 years and their children; Catherine Lodato of Manassas, Virginia and Gregory Lodato and his wife, Flavia of Ridgefield and their two children, Isabella and Victoria; a brother, John Lodato and his wife Marguerite; his brother-in-law, Raymond Bowling and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Lodato and Jeanine Häni; many nieces and nephews; and employees who had the greatest respect for him.
