Marion Schile Obituary

Marion Schile
May 10, 2022
Marion Louise (Schumann) Schile passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, in North Carolina, close to the homes of her two sons, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Marion was 80 years old and her husband of 54 years, Stephen E. Schile, was by her side when she passed.
Marion was born in her family home in Madison, Connecticut, and was the daughter of Eric B. and Frances Oates Schumann. She was a graduate of Madison's Daniel Hand High School and Southern Connecticut State University, where she was also a member of the field hockey team. Her life brought her to live in many locations, including Maryland and Illinois, but she moved back to Madison in 1991 and would keep a home there until 2010 when she and Steve retired to the warm, golf-friendly climate in Florida. Wherever she lived, she always worked to build a community and she cherished her family and friends, who felt the same about her.
Marion was an active member at the North Madison Congregational Church for many years. She spent more than two decades of her life working as a physical education teacher at Durham High School and teacher's aide to special needs children at Ridgefield and Clinton High School. She loved to dance, travel, ski, and lived an active life. She also loved to watch "her" UConn girls win championships; and play golf with her friends at Grand Haven, she carded two holes-in-one. Marion would often laugh until she cried, and she loved her family dearly.
Marion is survived by her husband, Steve; her sons, Stephen (Wendy) and Peter (Misty); her brother, Edward (Eileen) Schumann; her grandchildren, Aleya and Jaidev; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Herbert (Helen), Eric (Bernadette), and Gerald Schumann.
A celebration of Marion's life will be held at the North Madison Congregational Church at 1271 Durham Road, Madison, CT 06443, on Thursday, June 9th at 1:30pm, and will be officiated by Reverend Dr. Heather Arcovitch. A private interment will follow.
