Flora Weisel Obituary
TAMAROA - Flora Marie (Knapp) Weisel, 92, went to be with her Lord at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, in Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin. Flora was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away. Her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were with her.
She was a member of the Tamaroa Christian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for more than 22 years.
She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
She was born July 18, 1914, in Tamaroa, the daughter of Walter I. and Martha (Waligorski) Knapp.
Flora married Jesse J. Weisel on June 24, 1935, in Pinckneyville, and he died Aug. 17, 2002.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Marjorie Weisel of Kansas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Burgess of Kentucky and Wilma and Edward King Tamaroa; grandchildren, Jesse and Dianna King of Willisville, Lisa and Tony Brown of Tamaroa, Scott and Jayne King of Latham, Michael and Annie King of Coldwater, Miss., Elmer Jean Jr. and Marie Burgess of Dowell, Eugene and Caroline Burgess of South Carolina, Elliott Burgess, Edward and Juanita Burgess and Eric and Marilyn Burgess, all of Tamaroa, Edmund Burgess and Flora Geneva Burgess, both of Bowling Green, Ky., Patricia Brown of Kansas, Deborah and Thomas Novotny of Nebraska, and Richard and Linda Weisel and Jill Weisel, all of Kansas; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Gusty Woodside of Tamaroa; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Jennie Knapp of Du Quoin; sister-in-law, Belle Kurtz and husband, Homer, of Tamaroa; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, three brothers and one son-in-law, Elmer J. Burgess Sr.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, in Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, with Brother Arven Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Tamaroa. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Tamaroa Christian Church or the Antioch Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
